Per-Diem & Cost

See the math before you book — or before you call a sales rep

A furnished CHG apartment in Crystal City or National Landing starts from $250/night for a two-bedroom and from $325/night for a three-bedroom, with the monthly rate dropping the longer you stay — and utilities, WiFi, and cleaning are already in that number. A hotel charges those extras separately, and a hotel block for a multi-week stay usually costs more once you add them up. This calculator lets you model your real dates against either a hotel rate or your federal per-diem cap. It’s an estimate to help you decide, not a binding quote.

How it works

Four honest inputs, one decision-grade number

Every field sets one part of the estimate. No sign-up, no sales call, no dead-end — the result points you to the apartments it models or a tailored quote. Housing a whole team? The program modeler is one scroll down.

  1. 01

    Home type

Studio, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, or 3-bedroom. We own the 2BR and 3BR; the studio and 1BR are custom, sourced on request, and the studio is offered on 9-month terms. One person per private bedroom.

  2. 02

    How long?

The slider snaps to the tier that sets your rate — nightly under 30, monthly 30–89, extended 90+. Longer stays unlock lower per-night pricing.

  3. 03

    When?

For federal travelers this matters: the GSA D.C. lodging cap changes month to month. We use the exact cap for your move-in month, never an average.

  4. 04

    Compare against what?

We pre-fill the GSA cap for your month. Booking a hotel block instead? Enter the negotiated nightly rate to compare directly — and see the cost per private bedroom either way.

Reading your result

Hotel comparison

Your CHG estimate shows as a total for your window and an approximate per-night figure, both labeled illustrative and starting-from. A comparable hotel stay is shown for the same window, before taxes and fees. The included chips — utilities, WiFi, full kitchen, in-unit laundry, regular cleaning, single invoice, and parking where available — are extras a hotel typically charges on top of the room rate; with CHG they’re already in the number. A full kitchen also lets you self-cater instead of expensing every meal, worth factoring in for a longer stay.

GSA per-diem fit

For a government traveler, the result shows the GSA Washington, D.C. lodging cap for your move-in month and whether your estimated per-night rate fits within it — not a “savings” figure. Federal per diem reimburses actual lodging cost up to the cap; it isn’t a spread you keep. Your meals & incidentals allowance is $92/day ($69 on the first and last travel day), and a full kitchen lets travelers self-cater within it. D.C. lodging tax is generally reimbursed separately from the cap — confirm with your travel authority.

Per-diem caps are verified against the current GSA FY2026 Washington, D.C. schedule. Reimbursement is determined by your travel authority, not by us. All CHG figures are illustrative starting-from estimates — request a quote for exact pricing.

Housing a team?

Stop comparing monthly rates. Compare cost per bedroom.

A “cheaper” studio isn’t cheaper — it’s just smaller. We place one person per private bedroom, so a 2- or 3-bedroom home gives each person their own room at about half the per-person cost of separate hotel rooms — full kitchen, in-unit laundry, one invoice. Build the mix below and watch the real per-bedroom and per-person math, then get a tailored quote in a day.

Studio & 1-bedroom are custom — sourced on request; the studio is offered on 9-month (270-night) terms. One person per bedroom is the default.

03 — How long?
04 — How many people?

Defaults to one person per bedroom — how we place most stays. Sharing a room (a couple, or interns in peak season)? Bump the count and the per-person cost drops further.

Questions about the numbers

Are the calculator’s prices a real quote?

No — they’re illustrative estimates built from CHG’s starting rates to help you plan. Your actual price depends on your dates, the specific apartment, and availability, and is confirmed only in a written quote or at booking. The disclaimer stays visible on every result.

Where does the per-diem figure come from?

From the published GSA FY2026 lodging schedule for the Washington, D.C. locality, which covers Arlington, Crystal City, and Pentagon City. The cap changes by month, so the calculator uses the exact figure for your move-in month rather than an average. We re-verify the table against the live GSA source at each site update.

Why don’t you show how much I’d ‘save’ against my per diem?

Because federal per diem reimburses your actual lodging cost up to the cap — it isn’t a spread you pocket. Showing a ‘savings’ figure would be misleading, so instead we show whether a stay fits within your cap for the month you’re traveling.
